Ané Remmers is a self-taught skull artist living in a beautiful suburb in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is married to a caring husband and has two kids, a couple of dogs and many skulls.
Ané shares her love for the African bush with her husband and kids, and is mostly inspired by nature for the designs she works into her art. She works mainly in acrylics and adds the occasional dash of gold leaf for accent. She loves experimenting with a new media and techniques, and her style often varies greatly from one piece to another.
Her journey with skull decoration started when the world lost its marbles at the beginning of 2020, and she decided to paint a skull for their home. She immediately began receiving requests for skulls from friends and family, and has been turning skulls of all kinds into works of art ever since.
Ané Remmers is now on most social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook where she shares her work as well as her daily struggles with her amazing group of fans. She occasionally puts a skull for sale in the shop, but does mostly commission work on hunting trophies.
"In our house, nothing goes to waste. Bones turn into broth, skins into rugs, skulls into art and even the hooves become doggy toys. Yes, we even utilise the heart, liver, and kidneys. As a hunter family, we believe in utilising every bit of the animal!" ~ Ané Remmers
